Appearances by financial services industry experts Jackie Wilke, Phil Toews, Paul Cahill and Michael Wilson

Financial Advocates’ fall conference, IGNITE, wrapped up last week at the Hilton Portland Downtown. Financial Advocates’ and LPL Financial home office staff, industry sponsors, and nationally recognized speakers delivered more than thirty-five informative sessions over two days. Over 90 independent financial advisors, administrators and guests also attended.

“There are many different ways to deliver advice, operate a business, and plan for the future,” said Angela Vlach, President and COO of Financial Advocates. “It’s our goal to create a forum where independent financial advisors in the Pacific Northwest can hear different perspectives and learn new strategies that will further propel their clients and themselves towards success.”

Keynote presentations at the conference included:

Jackie Wilke, vice president and advisory practices consultant at First Trust Portfolios, offered a new strategy regarding how a life-focused specialized form of advice is helping advisors and their clients thrive.

Phil Toews, CEO and co-portfolio manager at the Toews funds, has identified research that suggested advisors need to make a change in how they communicate and proposed a new strategy for advisors to deliver advice.

Paul Cahill, National Sales Director at Virtus Investment Partners, Inc., shared insight into how the industry is evolving and how advisors can adapt by identifying new habits.

Michael Wilson, LPL Financial, provided an overview of how AdvisoryWorld, the recently acquired technology firm by LPL Financial, is helping advisors attract and serve clients.

Over thirty other main stage and breakout sessions served insight and answers to advisor questions regarding technology, business development, practice management, and succession planning.
